A white label app is a ready-built iOS and Android smart lock application rebranded with your company name, logo, and colors, then published to the App Store and Google Play under your developer account. Your end customers see only your brand — not Trudian or Tuya. The app functionality (BLE unlock, PIN management, e-key sharing, access log, OTA updates) is identical to the Tuya Smart Life app but presented entirely under your brand identity. Users download your app, create accounts on your platform, and manage their locks through your branded interface.
4-6 weeks for standard white label: 1 week UI review and asset collection, 1 week SDK configuration and QA testing, 1-2 weeks Apple App Store review (first submission may take up to 3 weeks), 1 week Google Play review (3-7 days). Hardware production runs in parallel with app development. Custom feature development — additional integrations, custom UI screens, or proprietary cloud backend — adds 4-8 weeks depending on scope. Allow 2 weeks for Apple developer account verification if registering for the first time.
You own the app — it is published under your Apple Developer Program account and Google Play Developer account. Trudian maintains the Tuya IoT backend and provides firmware updates for the hardware, but the app store listing, user accounts, customer relationship, and brand equity are entirely yours. You can migrate to a custom backend in the future without losing your user base or App Store presence. Trudian does not have access to your end-user data or app store account credentials.
MOQ 200 units of Trudian hardware per SKU. A one-time white label setup fee covers UI customization, Tuya IoT project configuration, app store submission support, and QA testing — quoted based on customization scope. For the EU market, specify EU server region (Frankfurt) in the IoT project configuration at setup time — changing data residency region after launch requires migrating all user accounts. Required assets: app name (check availability in App Store and Google Play before finalizing), app icon at 1024x1024 px PNG without transparency, splash screen at multiple resolutions, primary and secondary brand colors in hex codes, App Store screenshots (6.5-inch iPhone, 12.9-inch iPad, and Pixel 6 — minimum 3 per device type), App Store short description (80 characters) and full description (4,000 characters), privacy policy URL (mandatory for both stores and must be publicly accessible), and support contact email or URL. Provide all assets before setup begins to avoid delays to the 4-6 week timeline.
GDPR compliance for the white label app requires: EU server region selection (Tuya Frankfurt region) to keep user data within the EEA, a GDPR-compliant privacy policy describing data processing by the app, Data Processing Agreement with Tuya as your data processor (template provided), and user consent mechanism for data collection at app registration. As the brand owner and data controller, you are responsible for GDPR compliance — Tuya is your data processor. For property management customers in Germany, France, and the Netherlands, having GDPR documentation ready before sales conversations is essential as these customers routinely request it during procurement.
Tuya SDK updates are managed by Trudian as part of the OEM service — we handle SDK version migrations and resubmit updated builds to your App Store accounts. Major iOS and Android OS updates typically require app updates within 12 months per App Store policies. To mitigate platform dependency risk: ensure your hardware supports offline credential methods (PIN, RFID, BLE) that function without cloud connectivity, maintain your own App Store developer accounts so you are not dependent on a third party's account, and negotiate firmware source code escrow in your OEM agreement.
