What each destination usually asks for.
These are the record types an importer or tender team typically asks to see. The applicable set is confirmed for the named model, radio functions and importer role; the links point to the official texts, checked October 2026.
European Union
Products with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth fall under the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU, with RoHS alongside. The manufacturer issues an EU Declaration of Conformity, usually supported by test reports against harmonised standards such as EN 300 328 and the EN 301 489 series.
United Kingdom
UKCA marking, or CE marking where the UK still recognises it for the product category, plus a UK importer or responsible person. Connectable consumer products also need the security statement required by the PSTI Act 2022.
United States
Under 47 CFR Part 15, models with a radio module need FCC Certification and carry an FCC ID; wired-only digital devices are generally covered by a Supplier's Declaration of Conformity. If a tender asks for mechanical reports such as ANSI/BHMA, ask us which documents are available for the selected model.
Saudi Arabia
Imports are cleared with SASO conformity certificates for the product and shipment, and radio products also need telecom type approval. The importer usually owns the applications; confirm the current procedure for the product category before shipment planning.
Electrical safety and RoHS
Safety test reports, including CB Scheme reports, can support national certification, but acceptance and the standard edition are confirmed country by country. RoHS records are supplied only when matched to the named model.
Mechanical and outdoor ratings
Tenders may ask for lock-hardware reports such as EN 12209 or an IP rating under IEC 60529 for outdoor stations. A report applies only to the tested model and configuration, so match it to the supplied product.
OEM and ODM changes
How a change affects existing records.
The closer the order stays to a standard model, the more of its existing evidence can be reused. Each step below is assessed with the test lab before timing or cost is fixed.
Standard model, your label
Existing evidence for the selected model is reviewed. Declarations, labels and manual notices are updated for the brand and importer named on the product.
Colour, label or firmware change
The change is checked against the original test scope to decide whether a document update is enough or a partial retest is needed.
Hardware change or new product
A new antenna, PCB revision or radio module needs a radio and EMC impact assessment; a new product needs its own evidence route after feasibility. If you want the FCC grant under your own grantee code, plan that filing in the same step.
