Smart lock OEM MOQ and programme planning

MOQ is only one part of a private-label programme. Quantity, customization depth, testing and ownership all change the commercial route.

Planning point: Quantity bands depend on the selected model, branding, packaging, app and engineering work. Ask the supplier to state the MOQ for each route in the quotation, then tie it to sample approval, tooling and documentation ownership before treating it as a commitment.

Separate the three routes

  • Standard: existing model, standard packaging and normal documentation.
  • OEM: branding, packaging, selected app or documentation changes with limited engineering change.
  • ODM: deeper hardware, firmware, tooling or industrial-design ownership and a longer approval path.

What to include in the brief

State target market, door types, credential mix, app route, annual volume, launch date, packaging, certification needs, sample plan and who owns firmware, artwork and tooling.
