Two primary conformity tracks are relevant to smart access products in the UAE. Identifying which applies to the selected model allows the documentation pathway to be prepared before import or tender submission.
TDRA — wireless type approval
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) requires type approval for products with wireless transmission functions — Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee or other RF modules. Approval is specific to the wireless module, frequency band and hardware version. Confirm the wireless specification of the selected model before requesting the document.
ESMA — product standards
The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) administers UAE national standards for regulated product categories. Whether a specific smart access device requires ESMA conformity depends on its features and intended use. Confirm the model and product classification in the inquiry.
CE, FCC & RoHS baseline
CE (covering RED, LVD and EMC directives), FCC and RoHS documentation is available for qualifying models and supports the UAE technical review process. These do not replace TDRA or ESMA requirements where applicable. Name all required documents in the inquiry.

Installation considerations
Resolve site, network and service details early
UAE outdoor conditions — high ambient temperatures, coastal humidity in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and occasional sand — require attention to enclosure and thermal ratings. Confirm IP65 or better for all outdoor door station positions and operating temperature range of −10 °C to +55 °C or higher for direct sun exposures.
Site and enclosure

Network and connection requirements
